Vela is Antec's newest bike. On first look, the bike is hardly recognizable as an electrical bike. Yet, underneath the surface a powerful but silent electronic engine can be found, making cycling pleasurable, even in hard head winds.

On the handlebars, a switch unit enables the biker to decide the amount of power support needed. The unit consists of a plus, minus and horn switch. Ordinary technologies based on mechanical switching made it difficult to realize this 100% waterproof design for a reasonable price; Antec subsequently contacted Aito.

After a rapid design concept study, different innovative possibilities and ideas were shown. Aito developed the whole switching unit: injection moulded housing, electronic design and touch user interfacing. The result is a cost effective product which is not only economically appealing, but also extremely robust.
